Race # 4 - Mount Wirth Loppet - June 24, 2018

Theodore Wirth Race

Theodore Wirth - Sunday, June 24th 2018

Race Description

This race will be on the new trail system starting by the old "Par 3 Club" lot where the new Trailhead building is being built.

This year laps will be 4 miles long with over 400ft of climbing per lap! The course has some flowy singletrack but lots of sweet tight twisty fun mixed in...including some swoopy berms and jumps in there.

From the MNMBS: While the course can be tight and twisty, much of the singletrack does allow room for passing. This is a race, there will be people passing and being passed. Call out your passes and you MUST work together - you ALL will go faster by doing so. There also will be some open ski trail areas to relieve larger bottle necks.

Just to clarify, this course will not be on the MORC/MOCA trail system. Thanks to the Loppet Foundation for putting this race together for 2018.  Please check out the Loppet Foundation www.loppet.org and all the great events and programs they offer.

General Information

The race address is: 1221 Theodore Wirth Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55422

Race day registration opens at 8:00 AM.

As the new Trail Head building (1221 Theo Wirth Pkwy) is still under construction, the inner parking lot by the new Trail Head building will be used for registration, food, results posting, etc.

Course Information

The lap this year is made up of two separate trails, Area 36 and Karate Monkey and will be 4 miles long with over 400ft of climbing. Kids Comp will be slightly abbreviated. The orange connector trail through the golf course is only used on race day.  Connecting the two trail segments during pre-riding MUST be done via the paved bike path along the parkway. The course will be available for pre-ride Thursday and Friday after 4 and Saturday after 3:30 pm. Enter the Area 36 trail just to the left of the Trailhead and Karate Monkey just east of the Chalet parking lot and near Bassett Creek.  Please do not go through the construction area.
