The Registration "RACE #7 - Powder Monkey - August 4, 2019" is not currently available.
New year, new course for 2018!
COGGS and Spirit Mountain are excited to bring you a race course with unparalleled variety. This year marks the return of a true test of your grit and stamina, 'The Return of the Powder Monkey'
An offering of the 5th annual Kraus Anderson Bike Duluth Festival, 'The Return of the Powder Monkey' is a great way to unleash your inner Ferrari F40. Wether you are an spandex wearing carbon fiber riding Elite, or if you are just pulling down the mountain bike from the garage wall for the first time to see what the fuss is all about, this cross country style mountain bike race has something special in store for you. Beginner level riders should register for the 'citizen' category if this is your first race. Get ready to see Spirit Mt. in a new light this year and enjoy COGGS new course for you!
The Citizen (beginner) lap is a combination of fun flowy singletrack and doubletrack for easy passing, 3.5 miles, 249 ft. of elevation. The Citizen course DOES NOT climb 'The Puker'! If you are concerned about not being able to hack the course, you can do it!!! Grab your bike and get ready!
The Sport (Intermediate) will do 1 3/4 laps. The first 3/4 lap will be as shown on the race map above. THEN Sport will do 1 FULL lap.
Marathon will also do a 3/4 first lap and then do full laps for the remainder of the race.
The Expert (you know who you are) lap is 5.9 miles, 791 ft. of elevation. Time to carb up! 2 laps for Comp and Expert Women, 3 for Expert Men.
Marathon heroes, our hats are off to you! If you are looking for a good place for setting up your refueling spot, the upper parking lot along the course is a good choice.
Race spectators on Sunday only can purchase an all day, unlimited lift ticket (no bikes) for $10
