The race will be held at Hillside City Park, which is home to more than seven miles of fun, challenging mountain bike trail through 80 acres of oak forest. This single track loop doesn’t have many spurs, or crossings, so getting lost isn’t a problem; however it is quite technical. You’re either going uphill or downhill most of the time, and there are a lot of switchbacks and sharp turns. There are also many optional technical trail features that have been added along the trail to allow riders to challenge their skills. An average rider can expect one lap to take 45 to 60 minutes. Advanced riders can complete a full lap in under 35 minutes.
With less than 100 feet of total vertical elevation in the park, there are no big extended climbs... that's not to say there is no climbing though! The full course still has over 1000 feet of climbing per lap. Most of the climbs are very short, and some of them are steep as well.
This race will provide different course layouts for each class. The more advanced classes will see more climbing and more technical trails. The easier classes will see less climbing and less technical trails.
We will provide more detailed lap structure as the race nears.
These distances may be adjusted as the race nears due to additional trail being built for this event.
All proceeds from this race will be used to build and maintain the Hillside Park mountain bike trail.
On-line registration ends on July 15th at 8:00 pm.

The goals of the program are to grow and support mountain bike racing opportunities for juniors across the country and to identify and recognize potential cycling talent among junior athletes.
The USA Cycling Junior Mountain Bike Series is entering its eleventh year in 2010. This program has provided racing opportunities for aspiring junior males and females across the United States.
In 2003, World and US National Champion, Alison Dunlap, was added as a title athlete to the program.
The top-five riders in these categories and age groups will be extended USAC Regional Development Camp invitations: Category 1: 15-16/male, 17-18/male, 15-18/female. The invitations may be used for 2010 or 2011 camps.
The top-10 riders in both genders and all categories and age-groups in the ADJ-MTB will be qualified to compete at the 2010 USA Cycling National MTB Championships. Qualified riders will be generated from the race results submitted to USA Cycling.

Just follow the directions of the Caution Tape and the Course Marshals and you will have no trouble navigating the course.
Getting to the trail is a breeze, as it is only about 17 miles outside of the 494/694 split in Maple Grove. From the Twin Cities, take I-94 west to Hwy 101 (exit 207). Take 101 north about 9 miles (Hwy 101 turns into 169 at the bridge when it intersects Hwy 10 coming into Elk River) until you get to county road 12 (Main Street). Hang a right (east) on 12. You will go through one stoplight, and one 4-way stop sign, then start looking for a gravel parking lot to your right (about one mile total from 169). There is a large stone sign at the parking lot entrance that says "Hillside Park", and it has the street address on it.
The address for mapping is: 10801 181st Ave NW, Elk River MN 55330
