RACE #11 - Revolution's Single-Track Escape

Race Description

Cross-Country Mountain Bike Race

The all-new Single-Track Escape was designed to challenge, not only the Expert riders, but the newcomers as well. Get ready for a challenging mix of fluid single-track with open areas to pass. The course wraps around the west side of the Prison, and will include a couple of medium switch back climbs, unique bridge crossings, and some sections of lightning fast single track where you weave in and out of the trees. Every racer is sure to be pleased when they take on the Single Track Escape.

Minnesota State Single Speed Championships
Prizes will be awarded for the Sport Single Speed Race for top men and women and a State Champion for each will be designated. These races will be a part of the sport class races starting at 11:00 AM.  For this race, Comp single speed racers will race with the Sport class. Their finish place will also be credited to their Series age group Comp standings. Men SS will go in Wave 1 and Women SS will go after all Sport men with Sport Women. Comp Single Speed racers will not be counted in the Comp overall standings. These are published for comparison purposes only and do not affect a rider's Series standings.

Notes:
1) Kids Comp, Citizen, Sport, and Comp race entrants holding a USA Cycling Mountain annual membership (license), receive a $3 refund at race registration upon presentation of their membership card at the registration tent.
2)*USAC Sanctioned - All 2009 MNSCS events are USAC Mountain sanctioned. Racers competing in the Pro and Expert Classes are required to have an annual Pro or Category 1 USA Cycling license. To purchase a license visit www.usacycling.org

Shimano Kids Race

Shimano Kids Race Description
The Shimano Youth Series is designed to give children an opportunity to compete like their parents in a positive and fun environment. Over the years, the Shimano Youth Series has expanded to include over 100 races per year, reaching over 5000 kids.

The Shimano Youth Series is free to children ages 3 to 12. Kids receive a t-shirt, a numberplate, and a shiny new gold medal. Parent cyclists ride and race with the kids, providing motivational and physical support.
Race starts at 12:45 PM! Helmets are required. Register on-site only, Saturday, September 26th by 12:30pm

Pre ride

Pre riding is allowed at any time prior to race day, the trail will be marked on the evening prior to the event. If you ride on Friday please do not alter course markings. Please always wear a helmet when riding on the trails. Race course will be the same as last year for Kids, Citizen, and Sport, whereas Comp and Expert will have 1 mile of new singletrack (first ½ of the new expert section). If Comp and Expert are pre-riding by taking all Expert Spurs you will hit all of the race course + about 1 mile that will not be in on race day (last ½ of new expert spur).


General Information

Salsa Frame Raffle:  Commemorative Cycling Skull Caps will be sold to support trail development/maintenance for $20.00 and will give you a raffle ticket with a chance to win a Salsa Single Speed Frame.  The raffle drawing will take place at the awards ceremony after the last race on Saturday.  You do not need to be present to win the frame.

 

 

Concessions will be sold at the race to benefit the trails. Brats, dogs, pop, and what ever else we decide to bring. You’ll like it!

Awards

Prizes will be provided for 1st - 3rd place in each age class for Kids Comp, Citizen, Sport, Comp, Expert, & Pro classes. Top finishing Elite Group (Experts and Pros combined) will receive cash awards. See the MNSCS Guidelines for payout details.     

Minnesota State Single Speed Championships   Prizes will be awarded for the Sport Single Speed Race for top men and women and a State Champion for each will be designated. This race will be run as the first wave of sport as last year.

Driving Directions

From Minneapolis:
Take Hwy 94 West until exit 178 (Clearwater, MN) take a right on County Rd 6 (STH-24) take this straight to Hwy 10 (about 5 miles or so), turn left to St. Cloud. As you approach St. Cloud you will need to prepare to take a left on Minnesota Blvd (Hwy 301). Look for the Granite (Graystone) Prison Walls, take left just before them, and drive up hill and parking will be on your right hand side before the stop sign on 15th Avenue.
From the North:
From the North: From Duluth Take Hwy 35 to Hwy 23 south of Hinkley, MN take Hwy 23 to St. Cloud, once in St. Cloud go South/East on Hwy 10, take this for about 2-3 miles and then turn right onto Minnesota Blvd (Hwy 301). Drive up hill and parking will be on your right hand side before the stop sign on 15th Avenue.
