Race 8 - Gamehaven Lakeside Grind

Welcome to the Gamehaven Lakeside Grind – the Minnesota Series newest race. This race is held at the Gamehaven Scout Reservation – a beautiful 265 acre camp and the Gamehaven Sports and Activities Park  – Rochester’s newest 460 acre regional park with a 42 acre lake. Gamehaven has been a popular site for Minnesota High School races the past 4 years. Trails are built and maintained by volunteer members of the Rochester Active Sports Club. New trails are being added each year.

High School Race for Free

This is a High School Race for free race.  Open to 7th -12th graders.  NO ONLINE REGISTRATION for these kids.  Simply show up for the race and register on the day of.  You will get a race plate and race in the CITIZEN class. at 9:30AM start time.  There is a special wave for all of these riders.  Please be at the venue by 8:30 to register for this race.  

MNMBS Race for Free Update

The Series offers two opportunities for 7th through 12th grade student athlete to try racing in a mountain bike race for free during our 2017 season. The two race dates and locations are the Border Crossing, River Falls, July 9th and GameHaven, Rochester, July 30.  Here’s updated info about the Race for Free program

1.       No Online Registration is available for the Race for Free dates.  Students must register on race day at the venue in the Citizen class.

2.       Race for Free registration needs to happen prior to 8:45 am. 

3.       All students will need to sign a waiver at Registration.  Parents must sign the waiver for students under the age of 18.

4.       Race for Free entrants will stage in the Citizen race in the appropriate age wave group start at 9:30

5.       Race day medals will be given to the top 3 finishers in Male and Female classes

Minnesota Series Kids Fun Race

The Minnesota Series Kids Fun Race is designed to give children an opportunity to compete like their parents in a positive and fun environment. The Race is free to children ages 3 to 12.  Parent cyclists ride and race with the kids, providing motivational and physical support.

Race starts at 12:45 PM! Helmets are required. Register on-site only by 12:30pm.


Prizes will be provided for 1st - 3rd place in each age class for Kids Comp, Citizen, Sport, Comp, Expert, & Pro classes. Top finishing Elite Group (Experts and Pros combined) will receive cash awards. See the MNSCS Guidelines for payout details.      


Lunch  and refreshments will be provided by the Scout's Order of the Arrow. Please support them.

Rochester Active Sports Club is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to promoting active outdoor lifestyles in the Rochester area. RASC volunteers build and maintain trails in Rochester public parks and provide volunteer coaches for the City’s High and Middle School’s Cross Country Ski and Mountain Bike Team programs.





Course Maps


Please note. The finish/lap line will be adjusted after the Kids Comp race.  The finish line is slightly altered from the race maps.  All racers will cross the timing pads on each lap and at their finish. The finish line run out will be to the left and the lap line to the right.  Please take a moment to inspect before your start.

Pre Ride Information

The course will be available for pre-riding Saturday, July 29th after 1:00 pm. There will be no pre-riding of the race courses once races have started. Riders found on the race courses are subject to disqualification in their class.

If you plan to ride at Gamehaven any days or weekends before the race please use the trail map below. It is also posted on the two trailheads. The trails are located outsider of the main camp area where there are generally scouting activities taking place. Please stay out of this area. Except for the start and finish you will be riding the race courses. Please follow the yellow arrows.  In case of heavy rains, the trails may be closed.


Gamehaven Scout Camping - Rentals

All reservations are made through the Gamehaven Scout Office - 507-287-1410

CAMPSITES 8 with water, 20 primitive   - $8.00/person/night  toilets and showers are located in the pool area. Some locations have porta-potties.

LODGES - Pheasant (shelter #2) & Deer Lodges (shelter #3) - $70/day -maximum occupancy 23 people)

6 CABINS – maximum occupancy 4 people – $25/per night/cabin -showers and toilets at the pool area

CAMPERS – no hookups - parking in the main parking lot.

FIRE RING – with firewood - $30/ day

Take US-52 S towards Rochester. Stay on US 52 thru Rochester and take EXIT 50 - County Hwy-1 exit, toward 11th Ave SE. Turn right onto Simpson Rd SE/County Hwy-1. Go 2.28 miles. Scout Reservation is in the right.
